This is far from being a joke: an organisation has been formed to establish and advance the game of hockey in Algeria. Visit their website at: www.hockeyalgeria.com for more information.

We don't actually have an ice rink in Algeria, but I have been amazed at the level of interest - even participation - in the sport amongst our people. There seems to be a fair few who are absolutely fanatical about the game :D

I wish them good luck in their quest and here's hoping for an Algerian hockey league in the near future :)

Very nice idea, but I can't see a North American sport making the grade in our country. They already tried baseball and football (yank version) and it never got going.

I am surprised too l'algeroise. Are you sure they tried those two sports Athmane? Baseball and Football must be the two most boring spectator sports around. They've had no chance of getting any interest in the sport, let alone establish a "presence" in Algeria.


Even relatively established sports - such as handball and basketball - are struggling for popularity, so I can't really see the Yank version of netball making the grade in Algeria :D. We need to sort out our football first, and then think about other sports - don't you think?

Sorry l'algeroise and arezki, I forgot the URL of this organisation that wanted to bring American Football and Baseball to the grassroots of Algerian sport. It's like two, three years ago and I was as surprised as you are :eek:

I thought they stood a better chance promoting hockey in Illizi. I guess my wish came true after all :D

slt aux fan de hockey..je suis surpris de lire ces articles ,le hockey algerien pourquoi pas, j'ai appris a aimer ce sport, depuis je suis branché LNH (canada)

Bonjour, oui le gockjey en Algérie existe depuis peu, nous implantons toutes les structures nécessaire sous peu afin de développer ce sport en Algérie.

C'est votre enfant qui est la relève pour le futur.

Qu'il continue a faire ce sport, à l'aimer et a prendre du plaisir, c'est la 1er chose!

j'ai vu sur dailymotion les video de notre equipe..Sympa..par contre le plaquage fait par Zitouni et a qui on a donné une tire de pénalité , ca au Canada ne compte pas comme une faute, ca fais partie du jeu ...OU joue ces joueurs??

il est clair que dans tous les championnats, ce plaquage n'aurait pas était sanctionné, mais lors du tournoi de Dubai, nous n'avions pas le droit au contact, les autorités souhaitaient avant tout que les équipe développent un jeu d'équipe et de passes, afin de promouvoir ce sport autrement que par son coté physique.

ps: avec le droit aux charges, je pense que ce tournoi aurait eu une autre fin pour notre équipe.
